Reflect

Paul’s concern wasn’t about the presence of spiritual gifts; it was about their purpose. The Corinthians were eager for spiritual matters but careless in their relationships. Their passion exceeded their love.

Words that lack clarity don’t feed anyone.

Gifts without purpose don’t strengthen anyone.

Zeal without love leaves people hungry.

God’s design for worship was never just performance; it was about spiritual growth. When clarity is missing, the body doesn’t grow—it fragments. That’s why Paul emphasizes this truth: everything must build up.

Spiritual gifts are not trophies to show off maturity; they are tools meant to serve the body. When we forget this, pride creeps in, comparison takes over, and unity breaks down.

Christ shows us a better way. He didn’t reach for glory—He gave Himself for others. We should have that same mindset.

Respond

Ask the Holy Spirit to examine how you use your words, gifts, and influence. Are they building bridges or walls? Are they feeding others or drawing attention to yourself?

Choose clarity over confusion.

Choose edification over exhibition.

Choose love over comparison.
